Yang Lan: The generation that's remaking China | Video on TED.com

TED Talks Yang Lan, a journalist and entrepreneur who's been called "the Oprah of China," offers insight into the next generation of young Chinese citizens -- urban, connected (via microblogs) and alert to injustice.

Trey Rouse's comment, May 2, 2013 1:02 PM
I thought that this was insanely intriguing, informative and entertaining. I mean she made the most interesting and correct points in how China has changed and showed that they aren't all tight and restricting as they were and I actually thought to myself while watching only the first 5 minutes, "Well if her generation fought for all of this then what is the current one doing?" and to that she answered, "Well they don't seem to be doing much." and that is so true. This I would definitely agree with. What are they doing? Who knows what.
Braden Oldham's comment, May 2, 2013 9:48 PM
China is becoming a less tight and more freedom country. Also it made me wonder how does our generation change our country.
Aj highsmith's comment, May 3, 2013 1:55 PM

Malachy Scullion's comment, September 27, 2013 8:35 AM
I live and work in China and deal with Chinese kindergarten/primary/middle school students regularly. If the Chinese minister for Education decides to drastically reduce the homework levels for primary and secondary education, I personally would like to shake him by the hand.
Chen Quan's curator insight, September 27, 2013 8:48 PM

I do not think the policy will  work and be implemented. Chinese and Chinese school have strong incentives to do a lot of homework for the colledge entrance examination. If that can't be changed , the no-homework policy will be on the paper only.

Matthew Carrigg's curator insight, October 14, 2014 12:55 PM

This article explains the social problem of china blocking many sites on the internet angering the Chinese citezens.  China is very stubborn with social media and censors hundreds of thousands of articles every day. I think it would in the end be beneficial for china to ease on this policy as it would be a start to a more modern society. The more china fights against social media the less respect their citizens have for its government and the more occurring problems will rise up against the governments ways.
