Just a few days ahead of the traditional pretzel Sunday, bakers from Luxembourg distributed almond pretzels to passersby and politicians in Luxembourg City on Tuesday.
In a bit of culinary match-making, traditionally, men will buy their sweetheart a pretzel as a sign of affection. At Easter they will receive a chocolate egg in return as a confirmation of love – provided that the lady in question actually like the pretzel-giver.
In leap-years, such as last year, the tradition is reversed and women buy the "Bretzel".
