Susan Oxnevad has a really nice blog for teachers looking for speedy and smooth ways to integrate tech tools into their practice. She is both knowledgeable about the various web 2.0 tools that are freely available, AND thoughtful about providing strategies for their integration. Her work is very influenced by UDL, which I find powrful in this age when so much online curriuclum is essentially digital worksheet completion.

"If you navigate this website's menu bar (at left, in the light blue area), you will quickly discover pages dedicated to our local inservice classes and their instructors, as well as links to hundreds of complete writing lessons developed during local workshops we ran between 2001 and 2011. Our lessons include thousands of student samples submitted by teachers all over the world who--even though they're not from Northern Nevada--use our posted materials to inspire their students to write."

14 Ways to Use The Learning Network This School Year ~ NY Times

14 Ways to Use The Learning Network This School Year ~ NY Times | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

by Katherine Schulten

"Happy academic year 2013-14! Here’s what we’ve got on our blog and how you can use it, whether you’re a teacher, a student (of any age) or a parent.

"This year we’ve added some new things and tweaked some old in a continuing effort to reach the widest range of classrooms.

"We have a new weekly news quiz, a new weekly feature for E.L.L. students, a new Friday skills lesson (which will have its debut later in September), a more Common Core-friendly way of writing our daily 6 Q’s About the News feature, and some surprises to come.

"Our popular features from the past are all back, of course, including last year’s hit, What’s Going On in This Picture?, which returns Sept. 9.

"Get our weekly e-mail to keep up with what’s new, or follow us on Twitter orlike us on Facebook.

"And remember: The Learning Network and everything we publish, as well as all the content from The Times that we link to, is free and accessible without a digital subscription.
