Coggles in Google Drive

Coggles in Google Drive | Digital Presentations in Education | Scoop.it

We love Google docs. In fact, the seamless collaboration in text documents and spreadsheets is one of the things that inspired us to build the same sort of collaboration into Coggle, right from the start, and the frustration of working collaboratively on text documents is partly why Coggles have the branching structure they do – which makes it much simpler to collaborate.

Baiba Svenca's insight:

Great news from the mind mapping tool Coggle which is a free Chrome web app (you need not use Chrome despite the name)! It is now integrated in Google Drive.

Insert coggles in your documents or presentations without leaving Google Drive and share them easily.

Slatebox - Visualize Everything

Slatebox - Visualize Everything | Digital Presentations in Education | Scoop.it

Slatebox helps you draw and share ideas very easily on "slates" that kids love to use. You can spend less time telling them how to use Slatebox and more time conveying the idea because it's so straightforward.

You can give new students logins with PINs instead of email. Plus, you'll see everything they do in real-time. You'll be able to assign new slates as homework based on templates you produce, and manage all of their work from a single portal.

Baiba Svenca's insight:

Slatebox lets you create mind maps and infographics easily and without registration. If you want to work in a small team, register and invite collaborators (up to 3).

The tool is free and if you work on your own, you do not even need to register. Great for using with students as the tool does not require any previous experience.

Dot Dash is one of the creative tools in BBC Pinball. It's a fun and simple tool for getting your thoughts out fast. Organise and present ideas in a quick and easy way.
Baiba Svenca's insight:

An amazing new tool from BBC for creating mind maps or spidergrams. It is totally free and no registration is required.

As the design of the tool suggests, it will be more suitable for fun activities rather than serious concept maps.

There are a few formatting options like changing colours, adding nodes and images. When you have finished the map, it opens full screen either for immediate use or for downloading to your computer as a jpg image. To learn more, use Step-by-step guide.

It is hard to control the "behaviour" of the map online but it still is fun, and for that reason it may be great to use with younger students.

- Save/download actions moved to below the textarea
- Auto-saving your work in your browser
- Support for different font styles
- You can now use key commands:
  - CTRL – Enter (Draw mind map)
  - CTRL – S (Save)
  - CTRL – D (Download)
  - CTRL – plus (Zoom in)
  - CTRL – minus (Zoom out)
- Finally, we have left Flash and now rely on pure HTML
