I've been wondering how to implement Twitter in a controlled manner, thanks!
Carmenne Kalyaniwala's curator insight, March 26, 2013 7:03 AM

Very, very interesting and controlled !!

khodge55's curator insight, April 28, 2013 11:21 AM

Though I do not have a Twitter, I find this very interesting.  I think that if teachers did end up using this the kids who do have a twitter would get more involved in the assignment, but I'm not sure what they'd do with the kids like me would do during this lesson.  Overall,  I think this is a really cool and unique idea that could probably done with other social networking sites aswell.

21st-Century PLNs for School Leaders @gcouros

21st-Century PLNs for School Leaders @gcouros | A New Society, a new education! | Scoop.it
George Couros (@gcouros on Twitter) is the Division Principal of Innovative Teaching and Learning for Parkland School Division, a large district near Edmonton, Alberta.

As many school administrators are enjoying their summer break, we all tend to think of ways that we can make our school better in the upcoming year. Often, I point school principals and district leaders to a powerful post by Will Richardson that helps us point the finger right at ourselves when we are looking to push our school ahead. Richardson states:

"Meaningful change ain't gonna happen for our kids if we're not willing to invest in it for ourselves first. At the heart, it's not about schools . . . it's about us."

Here’s the most popular way to use Twitter to tell a story: Sharing personal details from your life. Even when you blog for business, you’re still writing for people, and people like to hear personal stories.

By using lists lists and hash tags effectively twitter can be u useful curation tool. Storify another mentioned in this article could also be a useful tool to curate twitter content

Andreas Kuswara's comment, June 11, 2013 9:22 PM
I supposed twitter can be used or any tool can be used for anything, but some tools are made with certain intended affordance by the creator that would make the tool less effective for certain functions. curation in a way is capturing things void of time (i probably drawing too much from museum), while twitter is fast pace timeline of interactive (or one way) discourse.... they seems to be inherently different.

i'm just automatically sceptical when 'one tool can be use for all' theme appear. but it is an interesting suggestion.

How to Use Twitter Friends As Sensors to Detect Disease Outbreaks

How to Use Twitter Friends As Sensors to Detect Disease Outbreaks | A New Society, a new education! | Scoop.it

There is intense interest in studying the way information flows through the Twitter network and how this information can be used to measure and even predict public opinion or disease outbreaks. But all this work shares a common problem: the sheer volume of data that Twitter generates. It’s simply not possible to follow what everybody is doing all the time. New research suggests there’s a better way to track the spread of information on Twitter that is much more powerful.

You’re in if you tweet. You’re out if you don’t

You’re in if you tweet. You’re out if you don’t | A New Society, a new education! | Scoop.it

| Scoop.it
