Alice is an introduction to object-orientated programming that makes coding appealing to young people. Students can test the programs while they create them and watch the sprites change as they manipulate the blocks statements. This tool is recommend for children from 8 years of age. A number of worlds can be created in Alice to incorporate mathematics. Two that I have found to be great examples are Ice Cream Functions and Toy Story discounts. Also provides an opportuniny for introducting the concept of 3D shapes. |
