The Definitive Guide to Personal Branding | BrandYourself

The Definitive Guide to Personal Branding | BrandYourself | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

In my last tutorial we were talking about #PersonalBranding:

https://gustmees.wordpress.com/2018/06/13/first-steps-with-the-arduino-uno-r3-maker-makered-coding-badge-with-2-8%E2%80%B3-tft-touch-screen-with-sdcard/

What Is Personal Branding:

When we talk about "personal branding" we are referring to establishing and promoting what you stand for. Your personal brand is the unique combination of skills and experiences that make you you. Effective personal branding will differentiate you from other professionals in your field.

A Brand Can Be Anything

We’re used to thinking about brands in relationship to companies and products - think McDonald’s or Apple. But nowadays, anything can be a brand. Even as an individual, you have a personal brand.

So what is your personal brand? Whether you’re known for your snaps or you’re still using a typewriter, you have a brand that exists both on and offline.

Luckily, there are a lot of great tools and resources out there to help you with the personal branding process. Use them to leave the right impression on people who look you up online.

The idea of personal branding makes some people uncomfortable. But, if you don’t take control of your personal brand online, then you are missing out on opportunities and letting others control your narrative.

At BrandYourself, we believe that personal branding should be accessible to everyone. That’s why we created this guide - to help you through the process of building your personal brand online.

While the specific circumstances and goals vary by individual, the overall concepts and process are still be relevant to everyone.

If you want to be a successful content marketer, you need to have the time, energy, and motivation to produce large volumes of high-quality work. Even the most naturally motivated writers may find themselves unable to move forward if they aren’t in an environment conducive to that production.

Ideally, you’ll be able to find, in general terms:

Inspiration: to stimulate your creativity and help you come up with more original ideas.

Focus: to keep you as productive as possible and minimize time waste.

Comfort: to reduce your stress levels (and risk of injury).
Collaboration: to keep you in close contact with other people.

Scrum (software development) - Wikipedia

Scrum (software development) - Wikipedia

Scrum is an iterative and incremental agile software development framework for managing product development. It defines "a flexible, holistic product development strategy where a development team works as a unit to reach a common goal", challenges assumptions of the "traditional, sequential approach" to product development, and enables teams to self-organize by encouraging physical co-location or close online collaboration of all team members, as well as daily face-to-face communication among all team members and disciplines involved.

Scrum is an iterative and incremental agile software development framework for managing product development.[1][2] It defines "a flexible, holistic product development strategy where a development team works as a unit to reach a common goal",[3] challenges assumptions of the "traditional, sequential approach"[3] to product development, and enables teams to self-organize by encouraging physical co-location or close online collaboration of all team members, as well as daily face-to-face communication among all team members and disciplines involved.

A key principle of Scrum is its recognition that during product development, the customers can change their minds about what they want and need (often called requirements volatility[4]), and that unpredicted challenges cannot be easily addressed in a traditional predictive or planned manner. As such, Scrum adopts an evidence-based empirical approach—accepting that the problem cannot be fully understood or defined, focusing instead on maximizing the team's ability to deliver quickly, to respond to emerging requirements and to adapt to evolving technologies and changes in market conditions.

Does the average person even know or understand what a blog is? Do professionals understand how blogs influence their profession? Are teachers using blogs as both relevant reading and writing tools? Are students using blogs to create their voice? Do people in general see any importance in blogging to reflect, question, criticize, or improve the world in which we live?

Do blogs have a value in our world today that is at least understood, if not appreciated, by those who should? Does the access to blogs require too much tech savvy, critical thinking, and a mindset different from the 20th Century to prevent the acceptance of blogs as a change force in our 21st Century world?

Will a large enough group of people even read this post to make a difference or will people need to print it out to share copies with others?

Des astuces pour utiliser les BLOGS dans la pédagogie

Deanne LaRoche's curator insight, May 28, 2017 9:43 PM

Having only recently for the first time taken up Blogging for an assessment item, I have become aware of its benefits in the classroom.  This diagram shows more ways in which it can be useful than I originally had realised and as such, I have now decided that adding a reflective Blog into my teaching will be of benefit to the students.  The ability to be in connection with others worldwide, will open students up to new possibilities.  I hope also then, that my Blogs and my students Blogs will benefit the wider community also.  I am reminded though that I need to ensure that the online environment that my students are involved in is a safe environment.

The Biggest Content Trends in 2018, According to 11 Experts
Reaching the members of your audience through a content-cluttered landscape -- and their ad blockers -- will be harder than ever in 2018. Fortunately, there are new technologies and techniques that can help.

Marketing moves fast, and working in this industry means you've got to get comfortable with change. At the drop of a hat, new marketing tools can change how we create and distribute our messaging, emerging technologies change how we track ROI, and trends can impact our decision-making processes.

Earlier this year, I made my own predictions for some of the biggest social media trends and content marketing trends brands should prepare for in 2018. To help us all get a more thorough understanding of what the future holds for content marketing, my team and I reached out to 11 marketing leaders for their predictions about the biggest trends in content in 2018:

1. Audience experience will become more important than ever.

2. High-quality content clusters are the future of search.

3. Content strategies will expand.

4. Channel experimentation will be critical to reaching your audience.

5. Brands will need to think like media companies.

6. Dynamic content will continue rising.

Gust MEES's insight:

What is the Definition of a Lead in Sales? | #Business  | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
Salespeople and marketing types both toss the word 'lead' around a lot, but they don't always agree on what it means.

Most salespeople define a lead as someone who matches the criterion the salesperson has established and who has the need, reason and/or interest in pursuing the product.

However, marketing professionals tend to define a lead as anyone who might have those qualities, and believe that a lead that proves to have the desired attributes is considered to be a 'prospect.'

How to use blogging as a powerful promotional tool for small businesses | #Blogs #Marketing | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

Blogging is a trendy activity in today’s marketplace. Most businesses, companies, and influencers are developing and growing their professional blogs with one purpose: business growth. A blog will often improve the expansion of brands in the marketplace. The more popular a blog becomes the better awareness will the business receive.

Perceive your own business like a powerful mechanism that can satisfy a specific target audience. However, before your products or services get to satisfy anyone’s needs or solve anyone’s problems, you –the brain of the company – has to supply a consistent flow of interested customers.

How do you do that? Well, you can run a blog and deliver massive amounts of traffic to your business offer. Thousands of people will hear about your brand’s name, and that’s only because they’ve been tempted to arrive to and consume one of your blog posts. In fact, here’s a list of benefits that blogging shall bring to your business performance:

More traffic towards your business website through SEO channels.
Blog posts’ call-to-actions (CTAs) generate new leads and potential sales.

Improves your authority in the field because of the quality content you share.

A great feedback machine (ask visitors at the end of posts to share insights).

Your business can become viral because one blog post becomes viral.

It wasn’t too long ago that student use of “chatspeak” — texting shorthand, Internet slang, or even emoji — in the classroom seemed as if it might signal the end of grammar and the death of proper English. But with 78 percent of teenagers having access to cell phones, and the majority of children picking one up by age 12, chatspeak is here to stay.

Teachers' Guide to Using Blogs in Class

Teachers' Guide to Using Blogs in Class | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
In an earlier post here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning, we argued that setting up a class virtual space in the cloud is an indispensable task for today's teachers. This space can preferably be a website, a blog, or a wiki or, if possible, all of them. The educational benefits of having such a space for students include:
  • Improve students writing skills through posting and commenting
  • Helps students have a voice
  • Promote the notion of independent and personalized learning
  • Promote a spirit of collaboration among students
  • Engage parents in the learning taking place in the classroom
  • Connect with students from other schools and exchange with them learning experiences.
